Week 9 Progess


So far, I am maintaining an A. However, I do not have the total possible points of 236 for the end of week 8/beginning of week 9, even though I completed every assignment on time.  I feel pretty good about my progress so far, but I find myself not having any time to take advantage of the extra credit options. If I had to choose, the assignment I enjoy the most is reading and giving feedback to my classmates. The writing projects have been enlightening and enjoyable. I would like to have time to go back and implement some of the feedback on my last project that I received from my classmates. I did implement some of the changes, but some came after we moved on.

Looking forward, I would like to be able to complete some extra credit and hopefully be able to do better with my reading time.

    I really admire the fact that you’ve been able to complete every assignment on time! I wish I could say the same for myself. I also enjoy giving feedback to my classmates, I think it’s nice to be able to provide suggestions or advice that would only help someone to keep improving their work. I would also like to be able to make time to fit in extra credit assignments. Good luck with the rest of your semester!

Week 3, Analysis, Tartuffe

A Thin Line Between Reason and Wisdom At first glance you can analyze Tartuffee as a condemnation on religion, but I found it to be remarkably inverse. The contention is not with religion, but with hypocrisy and reason rooted in freethinking. In the tale of Tartuffe, Moliere accentuates the importance of heeding to wisdom. We see, Cleante, the brother in law of Orgon and the King are viewed as the voice of wisdom. While, the other characters, could be the voice of reason. Although wisdom and reason are similarly characterized, they are distinctive in meaning.  British philosopher Nicholas Maxwell has called wisdom "the capacity to realize what is of value in life for oneself and others. ” Moliere acquaints us with a man’s inability to sway from his own reasoning, only to end up encountering the ultimate betrayal before recognizing the true value of wisdom. Reading Notes W16: Recitatif, Part A

Recitatif Roberta and Twyla were two different girls & races from the same world. The only difference is that Twyla was in the foster care system because her mother like to party, however Roberta was in the foster care system because her mom was ill. They were the same age, bullied by the older girls, and both had problems learning. The interaction between Roberta and Twyla mother is interesting because the author without mentioning, alludes the issue of race but leaves it to the reader. Roberta’s mother could have walked away because she did not approve of the way Twyla mother dressed. Maggie symbolizes the girls’ mothers. Maggie could not communicate what she was feeling. She could not express the pain and cruelty she was experiencing at the hands of the gar girls. Likewise, the author compares Mary dancing and Roberta’s mother illness to Maggie.
